Wilmington Sharks Baseball is back! Come out to Legion Stadium and enjoy a hot dog, a cold beer and a favorite summer pastime: baseball. The Wilmington Sharks have released their schedule for the 2011 season. The regular season starts on Tuesday, May 31st and runs through Tuesday, August 2nd. The league’s annual All-Star Fan Fest and All-Star Game will be on July 17th and 18th at the home of the Fayetteville Swamp Dogs.

The Wilmington Sharks will open their 2011 home schedule on Tuesday, May 31st hosting the Fayetteville Swamp Dogs. They will be home for 30 games this season including eight “Thirsty Thursdays”.

Riverfront Farmer’s Market

The Riverfront Farmers’ Market is a curbside market featuring local farmers, producers, artists and crafters. Opening Saturday, April 16th and going til December 17th the Farmer’s Market is a must-attend event!

The market is open every Saturday from 8am to 1pm.

Products include fresh fruits and berries, vegetables, plants, herbs, flowers, eggs, cheeses, meats, seafood, honey, baked goods, legumes, pickled items, jams and jellies, wine, art, crafts and more.

This curbside market features local farmers, producers, artists, musicians and crafters. The market sometimes features live musical entertainment.

NC Battleship Memorial

Known as The Immortal Showboat, the USS North Carolina survived every major pacific naval offensive of World War II and earned 15 battle stars. The USS North Carolina Battleship was brought to Wilmington, NC and the Cape Fear River in 1961 by the citizens of NC as a memorial to all the men and women who served in WWII.

The self-guided tour includes an orientation film, crew’s quarters, galley, sick bay, engine room, pilot house, guns, Kingfisher float plan and more. The Battleship NORTH CAROLINA is open every day of the year, including all holidays, as the ship is a memorial.

Summer Hours: Open Every Day! (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day) are 8 am – 8 pm. EXCEPT Independence Day when the ship closes at 6:00 pm to prepare for fireworks.
