Since 1986, the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association (WCFHBA) has showcased the region’s finest homes through our annual Parade of Homes. This year’s Parade will be truly exciting as we highlight the unique lifestyle experienced by those of us fortunate enough to call Southeastern North Carolina home.

The Parade is the ultimate opportunity to view a variety of new homes built by talented local builders, all of whom are members of WCFHBA. Whether you are a long time resident or a first-time visitor to our beautiful area, our Parade is sure to have something that will catch your eye. For two full weekends, we showcase the best and brightest that the building industry has to offer as we work to make your real estate dreams a reality.

Want a home close to the beach, downtown, or right on the golf course? Looking for a neighborhood with multiple amenities? Looking to upgrade to a larger space or downsize for less maintenance? No matter what home style you are considering, we are sure you will find what you are looking for in this year’s Parade.

Keeping Safe in Covid-19

As we prepare to welcome you to our 34th annual Parade of Homes™, your health and safety is our top priority. The Association will be taking the following actions to help lower the risk of COVID-19 exposure and spread during this year’s Parade of Homes.

First and foremost, if you are experiencing or showing symptoms we ask that you please stay home and instead visit our website to take a virtual tour of the homes.
All guests will be expected to meet existing social distancing and gathering requirements in place at the time of the event.
For everyone’s health and safety, face masks will be required upon entry and during your tour.
Hand sanitizer will be available and conveniently located in each home.

Please note that these measures should be viewed as a minimum set of guidelines. You may encounter additional requirements depending on the individual builder.

Carolina Beach Holiday Market: Dec. 5th

Just in time for the Holiday Season– Carolina Beach Farmer’s Market helps you solve all your shopping dilemmas with many gifts that are sure to suit all ages on your list. They will have something for everyone from shark’s teeth to soaps, yard art to fine art and everything in between.

This is the perfect opportunity to shop local and get amazing holiday gifts to put under the tree (or keep). Over 50 vendors of hand-made arts and crafts.

Price: Free. Free Parking is located at the lake and on Lake Park Blvd

Holiday Market at the Burgwin-Wright House: Nov. 14th

Get a jump start on your holiday shopping at our Annual Holiday Market. 20+ vendors- local authors, artists, handmade crafts and more!

Admission is FREE; masks are required on-site.

Vendors will be scattered throughout our acre of gardens. The historic house, jail, visitor center and art gallery will remain open for regular operational hours of 10am-4pm.

Toys for Tots will have a tent and drop-off box at the Holiday Market and at the museum through December 10th. Please consider making a donation.

Join our Local Wilmington Toys for Tots Campaign serving over 3,000 children annually. In this year of hurricanes and the pandemic be a part of something bigger than yourself through a donation of a new unwrapped toy for our children.

German Christmas Market: Nov. 21st

Christkindlmarkt • Chris•kindl•markt {noun} 1. Christ Child Market 2. A street market associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of Advent. It typically features German handicrafts, food, and entertainment.

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Wilmington, NC, presents the Annual German Christmas Market. Stroll among the tables of crafts, German Goods, Baked Goods, and Beverages while enjoying some authentic German music. This is a way to get a jump on your Christmas shopping while you help support your local vendors.

There will be no in-door dining, nor consumption of alcoholic beverages on the premises. All meals will be on a “To-Go” basis. A Selection of German beers available is sealed in original bottles as will be the Gluhwein.

Enjoy it YOUR Way! Come on in if you are comfortable and please be considerate. Masks and Social Distancing Required.

Cape Fear Festival of Trees: Nov. 21st -Dec. 24th

The Cape Fear Festival of Trees returns from November 21st, 2020 through December 24th, 2020, as one of the most heart-warming holiday traditions in our area.

Enjoy the area’s favorite holiday tradition, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare’s Cape Fear Festival of Trees. Local businesses, groups, and families sponsor and decorate holiday trees, creating a winter wonderland that’s fun for the whole family! It’s the perfect way to entertain kids and holiday visitors. Proceeds support Lower Cape Fear LifeCare’s mission to ensure care and support to families in our community living with a serious and life-limiting illness. To purchase tickets visit capefearfestivaloftrees.org. Attendees can vote on their favorite tree, as well as purchase holiday wreaths and commemorative ornaments.

Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot – Nov. 26th

Who doesn’t want to burn some calories in support of building homes before eating your Turkey dinner?! Join the in the festivities this Thanksgiving at the Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot. Come dress in your finest Turkey costume and support a great cause while enjoying a 5K or 1 Mile around a beautiful beach town.

The Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot raises money for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. Cape Fear Habitat assists families in the Cape Fear region towards the purchase of a Habitat home. Habitat’s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. They build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

2020 Covid Precautions

LIVE IN-PERSON RACE INSTRUCTIONS

While we are excited to celebrate the annual Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot, we want to be sure we’re celebrating safely.

Start Line

1. The Start and Finish Line will be in separate locations.
2. The Start Line will be located in front of Wrightsville Beach Town Hall
3. Participants may arrive at the Start Line 10 minutes before their selected start time.
4. When you arrive, join the line for the Race Start Line. Cones will separate participants standing in line. Once you reach the Start Line it will be your turn to Run/Walk the Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot.
5. Per the NC Governor’s Executive Order: Participants are to wear a mask, including at the Start Line, when social distancing is not possible. Masks can be removed once the race starts. Do not wear while running.

Finish Line

1. Participants will be asked to exit the finish line area immediately following their race.
2. Single-use face masks will be available at the finish line.
3. Family, friends, and participants watching the race are not permitted at the Start and Finish Lines to stay within the mass gathering number.
4. Water bottles will be available at the finish line for runners to grab on their own.

Water Stop

1. Small water bottles will be available at the water stop for runners to grab on their own.

Face Coverings

1. Single-use face masks will be available at the start line. Per the NC Governor’s Executive Order: Participants are to wear a mask, including at the Start Line, when social distancing is not possible. Masks can be removed once the race starts. Do not wear while running.
2. Single-use face coverings will be available at the finish line.

Cleaning & Hygiene

1. Staff will perform routine cleaning of any frequently touched areas.
2. Hand sanitizer will be readily available at the Finish Line.

Monitoring for Symptoms

1. Participants are being reminded if they display any of the COVID-19 symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, to remain home.

Protecting the Vulnerable Populations

1. We are asking all participants who fall into the vulnerable population class to stay home and run the event virtually.

Registration

1. NO on-site registration will be available at the race or packet pickup.

VIRTUAL RACE INSTRUCTIONS – READ BEFORE YOU RUN!

1. GET THE IYR VIRTUAL APP

– Download the App called “IYR VIRTUAL” on your phone. IYR has several apps, so be sure to download the one called IYR VIRTUAL. The App is not required, but makes uploading your results automatic.

– Once you open the App, you will be asked for your name and email address to find your registration record. You will need to use the email address associated with your registration profile. If someone else’s email address was used for your registration profile, you will need to use that email.

2. RUN YOUR RACE

– Run or walk the distance you registered for at any time and anywhere between November 25 and November 29.

3. SUBMIT YOUR TIME (read before you run)

– Option 1: Run with the IYR Virtual App, and let it record your finish time. The App will track your run, tell you when you finish the race, and automatically upload your finish time to the race results.

1) When you’re ready to run, open the IYR Virtual App using the email address associated with your registration record.

2) Search for the name of the race.

3) Click on “Tracker” and then on “Ready for My Race”

4) You will be prompted to enable Background Location in your Settings. Make sure this background setting is set to ALWAYS, and NOT Only When Using. The ALWAYS setting ensures that if the phone goes to sleep, or you play music, the App will still track your run. Following your race, simply go to Settings, find IYR Virtual, and turn off Background Location.

– Option 2: Use the IYR Virtual App to Manually Upload your results from your Garmin, GPS, or Strava to the IYR Virtual App after your race. After your race, open the App, find the race, click on Tracker, then Upload Results.

– Option 3: Upload a picture of your results through a Google Form. Use the following link to send us a picture of your results. Your results will not post automatically online like those using the IYR Virtual App, as we have to upload these results manually. SUBMIT RESULTS HERE – Link Coming Soon!

4. SHARE YOUR PICTURES

Since its founding, Cape Fear Habitat has helped over 190 local families realize their dream of owning their own homes, and hundreds more through financial literacy courses, credit counseling, and neighborhood revitalization projects. Cape Fear Habitat works with families and individuals of all faiths in need of a decent, affordable place to live. Through community partnerships and passionate volunteers, Habitat constructs quality homes that are purchased by local families and individuals on terms they can afford.
