The Big Buddy Fun Walk!

The 2nd Annual Azalea Cape Fear Volunteer Center/Big Buddy 5K/10K/Fun Walk is happening Saturday April 2, 2011. The races starts at 8am, with day-of registration from 6:30am-7:30am. The event takes place at Mayfaire Town Center located at 925 Town Center Drive.

The entry fee is $30/advance or $35/race day. Youth participants under 12 are free to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The course is certified by Try Sports and will be professionally timed by Atlantic Coast Timing. Prizes will be awarded to 1st place Overall Male and Female- $100 cash 2nd place Overall Male and Female-$100 gift card 3rd place Overall Male and Female- $50 gift card. Recognition for winners of ALL age group *prizes dependent on number of entries

All proceeds from the Fun Walk will benefit the Big Buddy Program. Big Buddy is a one-on-one mentoring program that matches “at-risk” youth ages 6-16 in New Hanover County and Brunswick County with positive adult role models.

Wrightsville Beach Biathlon!

The Blockade Runner Beach Resort will be hosting the Second Annual Wrightsville Beach Biathlon. The biathlon features some added challenges replacing the swimming category with paddleboarding and the 4-mile run will take place on hard packed sand.

The race will start rain or shine at 10 am Saturday, March 26^th 2011. The Blockade Runner will offer a special race rate, which will include a paddleboard rental. This will be a spectacular event; don’t miss this unique race experience!

The winners will receive complimentary weekends at the Blockade Runner along with over $1000 in prizes donated by Coastal Urge. The patio awards ceremony immediately follows the race and includes burgers and beers for the athletes and their families.

Celebrity Golf Tournament

The 19^th Annual Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament, presented again by First Citizens Bank, will be held this Friday, April 29, 2011 and Saturday, April 30, 2011. It is the premier charity golf event in Southeastern North Carolina. The 2010. Over the past years the Coastal Classic has brought some of the biggest names in sports, screen, and music to Wilmington. Throughout the years, Coastal Classic has raised more than $2.2 million to support New Hanover Regional Medical Center. This year’s Tournament will continue that tradition of fun, entertainment and of course, great golf!

The proceeds from last year’s Tournament were used to benefit Cardiac Services at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with the purchase of an Arctic Sun. This equipment is critical in the treatment of patients as it rapidly reduces body temperature and helps reduce the risk of injury to the brain following a period of insufficient blood flow caused by cardiac arrest, stroke, or brain trauma. The Arctic Sun is credited with reducing mortality rates among cardiac arrest patients by 35%.

Thanks to the ongoing support of the donors, sponsors, and volunteers the 18th Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament was a success. This event, helps make New Hanover Regional Medical Center the very best for our community.

Mother’s Day Luncheon Cruise

Treat Mom to a leisurely Narrated Sightseeing Lunch Cruise this Sunday May 8th and remind her why you’re her favorite! Wilmington Athletic Club Triathlon!

The very first event produced by Set Up Events was the Wilmington Athletic Club Triathlon back in 1994. This event includes a pool swim and a flat bike and run course. Enjoy all that downtown Wilmington, NC has to offer and make a weekend out of this “sure to be a favorite” event!

The event begins with a 300 meter pool swim in the WAC outdoor pool.

The 11.5 mile bike course for the WAC Triathlon is a two-loop course. The course is best described as tight and technical. The roads are mostly two-lane and will be open to vehicular traffic, but should be relatively light on race morning.

The 5K run is an “out & back” course. It is flat and fast. The run is on a combination of sidewalks and a paved jogging trail around the lake.

There is a $10.00 fee for each non-USAT registrant. On-site registration is available for this event during normal packet pick up hours. Packet pick up hours are Saturday, April 2nd (2:00PM – 4:00PM)? @ TrySports Wilmington – Mayfaire Town Center and Sunday, April 3rd (6:00AM – 7:30AM)?@ Wilmington Athletic Club – 2026 S. 16th St. The minimum age allowed for participating in the Wilmington Athletic Club Triathlon is 10.

15th Annual Battleship Blast

Come celebrate the 15th Annual Battleship Blast on Monday, July 4, 2011 at The Battleship North Carolina, Wilmington, NC at 9:05 pm

Battleship NORTH CAROLINA proudly presents the 4th of July Celebration. Don’t miss this year as the fireworks display will take on new forms never before seen in Wilmington.
