NBC’s new fall drama “Revolution” has begun filming in Wilmington. The show is set 15 years in the future after a catastrophic event changes our way of life, knocking out all electronic equipment, airplanes, and cars. “Revolution” will feature actors including Billy Burke, from the “Twilight” films, Tracy Spiridakos from the tv show “Supernatural,” and Giancarlo Esposito from “Breaking Bad.”
John Favreau, noted for his role in the Iron Man film series also filming in the area, with the co-executive producer of the series. He describes the series as a mix between “The Walking Dead” series and a bit of “The Hunger Games,” where characters must learn to survive after a disaster in a world that is completely unlike the previous world they are used to.
This show, in addition to several movies and other television shows filming in the area, have created a big boom in the film industry for Wilmington. Just this year the region has signed on projects including; “Iron Man 3” starring Robery Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, “Mary and Martha” featuring Hilary Swank, “Safe Haven” starring Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough, and “We’re the Millers” starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis.
