A reality series on the search for America’s most distinctive karaoke venues will stop in Wilmington next month to film amateur singers at the Browncoat Pub and Theatre. “Karaoke Crashers” will film karaoke jockeys and singers at quirky venues around the country. The reality crew will shoot at the Browncoat at 111 Grace St. on Sept. 1st.
Browncoat Pub, also a nonprofit theater, which supports the efforts of emerging artists, writers, directors and technicians, hosts karaoke at 10 p.m. seven nights per week. “They’re looking for unique, funky places that do karaoke, and we fit that,” Davis said. “Our Saturday night is generally jam-packed – we have really cheap drinks and crazy karaoke hosts, so it’s popular.”
Browncoat has invited other theater production companies to sing during the shoot in the hopes the show will help showcase local artists. The publicity brought to the area’s artists and musical acts will be invaluable. This television show will really help showcase the talent that is so abundant in Wilmington.
It was unclear Wednesday which network will feature the program, but producers so far have a six-episode contract.
