Join us for the  47th Old Wilmington by Candlelight Tour, December 7th & 8th featuring 13 historic sites all decorated for the season. Explore downtown Wilmington’s beautiful historic homes, festively decorated for the holiday season!

The tour takes you inside some of the grandest homes and most interesting historic buildings of Wilmington, including the Victorian era Latimer House, decorated for the Gilded age, and the sumptuous Verandas Bed and Breakfast, nearly destroyed by Hurricane Florence and now completely restored.

This year we’re also excited to include the South Front Phase II apartments, a former industrial building repurposed into urban living spaces. Also check out the Old Wilmington by Gingerbread House competition at the Latimer House and cast your vote for the best Gingerbread house on the block.

A Wilmington tradition since 2005, guests from around the world have visited Airlie Gardens from Thanksgiving to Christmas to take in the sparkling sights and festive sounds of the season. Guests will experience a 0.5m stroll through the Gardens, on a self-guided tour while feasting their eyes on a spectacular array of lights and holiday displays. Also in attendance, Santa Claus himself, and a few local food and beverage vendors with coffee, hot chocolate, popcorn, cookies and more! The year 2019 marks our 15th anniversary of Enchanted Airlie!

In 2019, Enchanted Airlie will be held on November 29th & 30th, and on December 6th through December 22nd.

There are two run-times per evening, 5-7 pm and 7-9 pm. Tickets often sell out in advance!

Get in the holiday spirit at the Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting on November 29th at 5:30 pm.

The event will feature live music, a visit with Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause, and a countdown to the lighting of the Christmas tree on the Riverfront. The event is free, so come down to Riverfront Park on Water Street and fill yourself with holiday cheer!

The 25th Annual Cucalorus Film Festival in Wilmington, NC, is one of the most popular events in the Port City and features more than 200 films in every genre, plus dance performances, music videos, works-in-progress, international films, and Kidsalorus with movies suitable for children from November 13^th to November 17^th, 2019.

About the Cucalorus Film Festival

The 25th annual Cucalorus Film Festival takes place November 13-17, 2019 in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.

Cucalorus was founded in 1994 by the underground filmmaking collective Twinkle Doon. At the inaugural event, crowds wrapped around the block to see 16 local films screening at Water Street restaurant by the Cape Fear River.

These days Cucalorus takes place every November, celebrating independent and international film for five days in historic downtown Wilmington, NC. MovieMaker Magazine recently recognized it as “One of the Coolest Film Festivals in the World, 2014.”

Cucalorus is a multi-disciplinary arts organization supporting emerging and innovative creative professionals through our annual film festival, a residency program, a summer camp for teen filmmakers, a micro-cinema, and an extensive community outreach program.

The annual Cucalorus Film Festival was established in 1994 and has since grown into one of the largest film festivals in the South. More than 200 films screen each year at venues all over downtown Wilmington, attracting a large number of participating artists (300+) and thousands of fans and industry professionals (accumulated attendance in 2014 was 15,743).

Festival programs focus on dance, music videos, emerging artists, social justice, works-in-progress, and international cinema.

Cucalorus education and outreach programs include Global Perspectives, Works-in-Progress, Latino Lens, Media Literacy, and Racial Rewind. Cucalorus is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies on funds from individuals, businesses, and grants to fund its annual celebration.
